Teenager Detained Following Woman's Death

A 13-year-old schoolgirl has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a property in Swindon.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 21, at an address on Baydon Close, Moredon. Police officers were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance inside the house.

Upon arrival, they discovered a woman who was not breathing. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman, who was in her 50s and lived at the property, was declared dead at the scene.

Police Investigation Underway

Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose from the Wiltshire Police major crime investigation team confirmed the serious nature of the incident.

"This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died," he stated. "We have set up a cordon at the address while an investigation is carried out. I can confirm we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else."

A police cordon remained in place at the property as forensic teams and detectives worked to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.

Appeal to the Local Community

Authorities have informed the woman's next of kin and are providing support to the family.

Det Insp Ambrose directly addressed the local community, urging people not to speculate about the tragic event. "We appreciate the concern that this may cause the local community," he said. "If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to speak to an officer."

Police confirmed there were no other reported injuries from the incident. The investigation continues as officers work to piece together the events that led to this woman's death.
