Three arrests after Willenhall shooting leaves man critical

Three people have been arrested by police investigating a shooting in the Black Country which left a young man fighting for his life.

Victim Remains in Critical Condition

The incident occurred on Wordsworth Road in Willenhall on the evening of Tuesday, 23 December. The victim, a man in his 20s, suffered a serious gunshot wound. He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition, a full week after the attack.

Arrests Made in Connection with Attack

West Midlands Police (WMP) confirmed a series of arrests in connection with the violent incident. On Sunday, 29 December, officers arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

In a further development, a 61-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The force then made a third arrest on the morning of Monday, 30 December, detaining a 28-year-old man on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

All three suspects were in custody for questioning as of 30 December.

Police Appeal for Information

Following the shooting, WMP sealed off the estate on Wordsworth Road. Officers were seen conducting thorough searches of the area as part of the ongoing investigation.

The force has issued a public appeal for information. A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve arrested two men and a woman after a man was discovered with a gunshot wound in Willenhall."
