Dominic Woodcock, 23, is facing additional prison time after more victims of his online grooming and blackmail campaign came forward. Woodcock was originally sentenced to four years and eight months in 2024 for blackmailing girls into sending indecent images.
He has now admitted more than 40 new charges, including causing or inciting a child into sexual activity, distributing indecent images, and engaging in sexual communication with a child. The charges were brought after additional children he targeted were identified by police.
Court Appearance and Sentencing
Woodcock was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court on August 14 and will remain in custody until his sentencing hearing in December. The court heard that throughout his offending, Woodcock used a fake gymnastics promotion account on TikTok to contact young girls.
He would send messages asking for videos of the girls performing gymnastic routines, building a rapport with them before escalating his demands. Once trust was established, he requested indecent images and threatened to expose the girls online if they refused to comply.
Police Investigation and Victim Support
West Midlands Police, who released the image of Woodcock, have been investigating the case. The original investigation led to his 2024 conviction, but further victims have since been identified, prompting the additional charges.
Authorities have urged parents and guardians to be vigilant about children's online activity. Advice includes encouraging children to talk about how they use the internet and to show parents what they do online. Setting boundaries for internet use, such as when and where devices can be used, is also recommended.
Online Safety Guidance
Parents are advised to ensure children understand the risks of sharing images online and to know how to remove content if necessary. Organisations such as CEOP and Get Safe Online offer training, resources, and advice to help with online safety.
Woodcock's sentencing is scheduled for December, and he will remain in prison until that date.
