Tributes have been left for a young man who was killed in a Birmingham pub car park. Mourners have been visiting the spot at the Beggars Bush pub in New Oscott where the victim - named locally as Ayden - was stabbed on Sunday morning, October 11. They have left flowers, cards, balloons, bottles and a T-shirt.
Heartfelt messages left at the scene
One message on a card read: "I wish you were still alive and I'm sad you're gone but we can't change the past and from now on I will do good knowing you're watching from above." Another said: "You always stayed strong through everything, never ran from anything. Love you lots, I miss you too bad."
Detectives have set up a portal where witnesses can send footage and information as they continue to hunt the killers. The nearby Sainsbury's, which was also closed after the tragedy, reopened at 3.30pm on Monday. The Beggars Bush pub remained shut.
Police investigation under way
West Midlands Police said: "A man in his 20s was discovered with serious injuries in the car park of the Beggars Bush pub, Chester Road, at just before 2am. Sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene. Our thoughts and support are with his loved ones at this devastating time."
"An investigation is under way and we're carrying out a range of enquiries - including reviewing CCTV - to establish why this happened and who was involved. We understand a number of people had been in the area, and we've set up a dedicated portal for any footage or information which could assist our enquiries to be submitted."
Increased police presence and appeal for witnesses
"A scene remains in place and we'll have an increased police presence over the coming days, including reassurance patrols by local officers who are there to listen to any concerns from residents. No arrests have been made at this stage and we'd ask anyone who can help us to come forward. You can also contact us with information via 101, or Live Chat on our website, quoting log 345 of 11 October."
