A woman has tragically died after being discovered in a critical condition under a road bridge in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, in the early hours of this morning.
Emergency Services Respond
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene between Dunster Road and Pike Drive at approximately 3:30am on Friday, May 1. Upon arrival, paramedics found a woman in a critical condition, who was being attended to by police officers who had initially responded to the incident.
Despite the immediate administration of advanced life support by ambulance crews, the woman could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scene Cordoned Off
The area beneath the Yorkminster Drive bridge has been cordoned off by police as investigations continue. A police car, an ambulance, and a small grey police tent were visible within the cordon.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a medical emergency in Chelmsley Wood at around 3:30am. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Critical Care Car attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman in a critical condition being cared for by police on scene. Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support to her. Despite their best efforts, it became clear that nothing more could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene."
Police have not yet released further details about the incident, and inquiries are ongoing. The road closure is expected to remain in place for some time as forensic examinations are carried out.
