West Midlands Police are investigating a distraction robbery in Brierley Hill after a woman hugged a man and stole his gold necklace, which had rings attached to it. The incident occurred on The Breeze, near Moor Street, at around 12.45pm on Tuesday, August 4.

The woman approached the victim and offered to sell him gold. After she hugged him, the man realised his necklace was missing. The suspect is described as wearing all black clothing and a head scarf.

Police release images of stolen jewellery

Officers have now released images of the missing jewellery in the hope that someone may recognise it or have information about the theft. The appeal, issued by West Midlands Police, reads: "Can you help our investigation into a distraction robbery in Brierley Hill?"

The appeal continues: "A man was approached by a woman on The Breeze, near Moor Street, at around 12.45pm on Tuesday, August 4. The woman offered to sell the man gold and then hugged him, after which he realised his gold necklace with rings attached had been stolen."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference number 20/350511/26. Alternatively, people can use the live chat facility at www.west-midlands.police.uk. The force has not yet made any arrests in connection with the incident.

The theft has left the victim without his jewellery, and police are urging anyone who may have seen the woman or the items to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
