Woman Appears in Court Following Witton House Fire

A 38-year-old woman has appeared before magistrates, charged with arson following a fire at a residential property in Birmingham where four children were inside.

Safoora Bi, of Deykin Avenue in Witton, faces a charge of arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered. The alleged offence relates to a blaze at a house on the same road on Monday, November 17.

Emergency Services Response and Children's Safety

Emergency services were called to the scene on Deykin Avenue shortly after 4pm. A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were alerted at 5.04pm and dispatched an ambulance to the property.

"Four children – a girl and three boys - were assessed by ambulance staff," the spokeswoman said. Fortunately, the children did not require further treatment and were discharged at the scene.

West Midlands Fire Service attended the incident but deferred further comment to the police, confirming it was now a criminal matter.

Court Appearance and Bail Conditions

West Midlands Police confirmed that officers arrested Bi after being called to the address by their emergency service colleagues.

Safoora Bi appeared at Birmingham Magistrsquo; Court on Wednesday, November 19. She was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear next at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday, December 17.

As part of her strict bail conditions, Bi is prohibited from entering Deykin Avenue and is forbidden from contacting four individuals.
