Birmingham dad jailed 44 months for cocaine haul

Chad Lee, a 36-year-old father from Hartwell Road, Birmingham, has been sentenced to 44 months in prison after police discovered a cocaine haul worth £24,600 in a storage unit. The drugs were found at Minworth Storage Solutions on April 10, where Lee was caught with 341g of cocaine, a knife, an iPhone, and scales.

Court details

At Birmingham Crown Court, prosecutor Mr Redman stated: "When police arrived they found the defendant holding class A drugs, a large amount of cocaine, a knife, iPhone and scales." Lee admitted possession of a class A drug with intent to supply. The court heard he was attempting to pay back a drug debt from previous seizures.

Impact on family

Lee has a ten-month-old daughter, and his earliest release date is set for 2030, meaning he will miss a significant part of her childhood. His defence lawyer explained that Lee had "returned to a business that he had previously known" to make up financial losses.

Previous conviction

This offence triggered a prison recall for a ten-year drug trafficking sentence from 2020, from which Lee had been released in 2024. Judge Walkling KC noted Lee played a "significant role" in the operation and warned that those who sell class A drugs "can expect to go to prison for a very long time."
