Birmingham Man Assaults Sister Over Brother's Death

Carl Gloster, a Birmingham man, has been handed a suspended sentence after violently assaulting his sister following a family row over the death of their brother. The incident occurred on April 28, 2024, outside his Gregory Avenue home, after the siblings had not spoken for seven years.

Assault Details

Birmingham Magistrates' Court heard that Gloster sent abusive messages to his sister, challenging her to “come and say it to his face” after she called him an “idiot.” Prosecutor Ms Begum told the court: “He grabbed her by the throat and threw her to the ground.” The victim suffered four fractured ribs and soft tissue damage, requiring treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Court Proceedings

Defending, Johnson Fadimu said his client was “sorry” for his actions and had acted out after receiving distressing news of his brother's death. Gloster was found guilty at trial despite pleading not guilty to the assault charge. Magistrates described the offence as “very serious.”
