The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a notice for Bubble Cosmetics Sunscreen Pack, declaring it a “high risk” product and confirming it was rejected at the UK border. The product cannot be sold to customers in the UK.
Why the sun cream was banned
The OPSS stated that the product presents a risk due to inadequate labelling and traceability information. Multiple mandatory cosmetic labelling requirements have not been met, including omissions relating to sunscreen use instructions and product traceability.
According to the OPSS, “consumers may not have sufficient information to use the product appropriately, and effective regulatory traceability is impaired.” The product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, known as the Cosmetics Regulation.
Recent recall of wet wipes
Earlier this month, FreshWipes Intimate Unscented Wipes were urgently recalled due to contamination risks. The wipes were sold on the FreshWipes website, Amazon UK, TG Jones (formerly WH Smith), TikTok Shop, and QVC. They are described as a 10-pack of moist wipes, also sold in multipacks and self-care bundles.
The OPSS said affected batches may be microbiologically contaminated, with the preservative system not performing as required. This could result in users experiencing adverse skin reactions. The affected batches do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009.
Consumer advice and next steps
FreshWipes has recalled the product from end users. Consumers who have an affected batch should stop using the product immediately and contact their place of purchase for instructions on return or disposal and refund or redress.
FreshWipes advised: “Check the batch number printed on the back of the pack. If it reads LOT 0926 or LOT 0515, the product is part of this recall.” Customers with affected batches should contact the customer support team at Sales@freshwipes.co.uk with a photo of remaining packs clearly showing the LOT number.
The company apologised for any inconvenience caused and said it remains committed to the safety and quality of its products.
