The family of a six-year-old boy who tragically died after being struck by a vehicle in Cheshire has expressed their profound grief, describing themselves as "heartbroken" while paying a heartfelt tribute to the young child.
Incident Details
Police were dispatched to Anchor Drive in Ellesmere Port at approximately 11:40 AM on April 19 following reports that Kanan-Jay McLeod had been hit by a black Infiniti FX30D. Relatives initially rushed the boy toward the hospital, but they were intercepted by police officers and paramedics near the Whitby Sports and Social Club. He was then transferred to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement, Kanan-Jay's family described him as their "beautiful, bubbly little boy" who brought immense joy to everyone who knew him. "Our beautiful, bubbly little boy Kanan-Jay brought so much joy to everyone who knew him. He was a cheeky little character with a big smile, a kind heart and an infectious personality, with a love for gaming, cars and football, especially Liverpool Football Club," they said.
"He adored spending time playing with his cousins, his friends, his auntie T and uncles Lewis and Liam, filling our days with happy memories that we will treasure forever. As a family, we are heartbroken, but we are also incredibly grateful for the kindness, love and support shown to us by the community during this unimaginable time. Thank you for helping us honour our Kanan-Jay."

Arrest and Investigation
