More than a week after a brazen machete robbery at a mobile phone shop in Weoley Castle, Birmingham, the three suspects remain at large, West Midlands Police have confirmed. The armed gang struck at a store on Weoley Castle Road at around 3.30pm on Friday, July 10, brandishing machetes and holding the shopkeeper at knifepoint while stuffing phones into a bag.
Footage shared online and seen by BirminghamLive shows the masked trio dressed entirely in black clothing, swiftly grabbing handsets as the terrified shopkeeper was threatened. Despite the clear evidence, no arrests have been made as of July 19, prompting police to appeal for public assistance.
Police Investigation Ongoing
A West Midlands Police spokesperson stated: "Officers were called to a store on Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham, just after 3.30pm on July 10 following a knifepoint robbery and phones being stolen. No one was injured during the incident. Our investigation to identify those responsible is ongoing. We would ask anyone with any information that could help our officers to get in touch."
Earlier, a force spokesperson had said: "We're investigating an armed robbery at a shop in Weoley Castle Road, Birmingham. Three people entered the premises and a number of items were taken."
