An investigation is underway after the body of a woman was discovered in a house in Birmingham. West Midlands Police were called to an address on Minstead Road, near the Spaghetti Junction interchange in Erdington, shortly before 11:40 AM on Monday following the discovery.
Police Treat Death as Unexplained
Officers are treating the death as unexplained, and a forensics team is currently at the scene. Detectives have been conducting door-to-door enquiries and interviewing residents in the area. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the woman's cause of death.
West Midlands Police stated: "We’re investigating after the body of a woman was found at a property in Birmingham. We were called to Minstead Road, Erdington, shortly before 11:40am yesterday after the body of a woman in her 50’s was discovered. A forensic postmortem will be held in due course. We are currently treating the death as unexplained. We have a scene at the location as our team of forensic experts investigate. Detectives are making door to door enquiries locally as our enquiries continue."
Ambulance Service Called but Stood Down
West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the incident but were stood down by police upon arrival. The force has appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting reference 20/322953/26.
The investigation remains ongoing as forensic experts examine the scene and detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman's death.
