Local groups and businesses in Welshpool are being encouraged to take a hands-on role in enhancing the town centre by caring for two prominent floral displays. Subject to final arrangements and legal transfer from Powys County Council, Welshpool Town Council is seeking expressions of interest from those who would like to take on the planting and ongoing maintenance of the beds.
The sites are located opposite the NFU and Rowlands Pharmacy, adjacent to Church Street in the heart of the town. This initiative forms part of a wider effort to improve the appearance of the area while encouraging greater community involvement and pride in local spaces. The council is currently developing a simple licence agreement to support volunteers, ensuring all arrangements are clear, safe, and easy to manage.
Community Pride in Action
Richard Williams, town clerk, said: "We know how much pride people in Welshpool take in their town, and this is a great opportunity for local groups to get involved in a visible and positive way. Even small improvements can make a big difference to how our town looks and feels."
How to Get Involved
Expressions of interest must be sent to town.clerk@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk by Sunday, May 17, 2026. Submissions should include a brief outline of the group and how they would like to contribute to the project. This is a chance for community organisations, businesses, and volunteer groups to make a lasting impact on the town centre's appearance and foster a sense of ownership and pride.
