Funeral Date Announced for 'Beautiful' Rowley Regis Youngster Amelia Kolpa
A funeral date has been set for Amelia Kolpa, the 'beautiful' young girl from Rowley Regis who captured the hearts of people worldwide with her courageous battle and inspiring birthday wish.
Amelia tragically passed away on Tuesday, March 17, following a nearly six-year fight against a rare form of cancer. Her mother, Katarzyna Bartczak, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook last week, stating that her daughter had 'put on her angel wings' and was no longer suffering.
Global Support for a Brave Little Girl
The youngster received an outpouring of support from across the globe when she revealed her wish to break a UK record by receiving 8,000 cards for her eighth birthday on March 3. This heartfelt request resulted in an astonishing response, with more than 341,500 cards sent to her, including 60,000 delivered to her home by bikers.
Katarzyna wrote emotionally about her daughter's strength, saying: 'For nearly six years, she fought with a strength beyond imagination. Every single day, she showed us what true courage looks like. She showed the whole world that even the smallest heart can hold the greatest power.'
Funeral Arrangements and Special Requests
This afternoon, on Monday, March 23, Katarzyna provided another update, announcing that Amelia's funeral will take place at Waseley Hills Crematorium in Rubery next week. The service is scheduled for 1:30pm on April 1.
In her message, she invited people to join in saying goodbye to their 'beautiful Amelia' with several special requests:
- Attendees are asked to wear bright colors only, with no black, as a reflection of the light, love, and joy Amelia brought into their lives.
- Closest friends and family will be inside the chapel, while others are kindly requested to remain respectfully outside during the service.
- Donations in Amelia's memory are deeply appreciated to Matt's Mission Charity, helping her love continue to make a difference.
- For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available, with the link shared the day before the funeral.
Celebrating a Life of Love and Laughter
Following the service, a wake will be held at The Lockside Steakhouse, where family and friends will gather not just in sadness but to celebrate Amelia's life, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely.
Katarzyna expressed profound gratitude, writing: 'From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us honour Amelia in the way she truly deserves.'
