Fans of the hit reality show Love Island are celebrating as one of its most beloved couples has announced their engagement. Will Young and Jessie Wynter, who found love on the Winter 2023 edition of the programme, shared the joyous news that they are set to marry.
A Private Celebration Before the Public Announcement
The couple took to social media on Sunday 4th January 2026 to reveal their happy secret. In a heartfelt post, 26-year-old farmer Will explained that he had actually proposed a month earlier, on 9th December 2025. The pair chose to keep the news private, celebrating intimately with Jessie's family before telling the world.
"We wanted to soak up this moment together and be fully present before sharing it with the world," Will wrote. "We still feel like we’re living in a dream. I can’t believe we’re engaged. My heart has never felt so full of love." He confessed to having planned the surprise for an entire year, a secret he found difficult to keep from his now-fiancée.
The Perfect Tasmanian Proposal
Will revealed he put immense thought into finding the ideal location for the proposal, knowing it had to be perfect for Jessie. He ultimately chose a stunning spot on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia, Jessie's home country.
"I know how much she loves the ocean and the mountains and there’s nowhere she loves more than home," he said. "Every time we come to Tasmania Jessie takes me to her favourite views and just sits and admires how beautiful Tasmania is, so when I found this spot, I knew it was the one."
The couple shared adorable photographs from the romantic seaside proposal, giving fans a glimpse of the magical moment and a closer look at Jessie's engagement ring.
From the Villa to Forever
Jessie, who first appeared on the Australian version of Love Island in 2019, met Will when she joined the UK winter series in 2023. Despite being voted out just a day before the final, they left the villa as an official couple and have remained a firm fan favourite ever since.
In his announcement, Will penned a loving message to Jessie: "I love you with all my heart, Jessie and I promise to love you for the rest of my life. Here’s to making you the happiest girl in the world, forever."
The news has been met with a flood of congratulations from the Love Island community. Show host Maya Jama commented, "Knew from the start you were a perfect match," while former islanders like Chloe Burrows and winner Toni Lates sent their best wishes.
