Emergency services were called to a serious two-car collision on Perton Lane in Stoke Edith, Herefordshire, just after 2.30pm on Tuesday, August 5. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of medics.
Firefighters worked to free the woman from her vehicle, and ambulance crews immediately began administering advanced life support. However, the severity of her injuries proved fatal, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
Emergency Response and Casualties
West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched three ambulances, a paramedic officer, a BASICS doctor, and a helicopter from the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity to the incident. The rapid response underscores the seriousness of the collision.
Two other people involved in the crash sustained injuries that are not believed to be serious. They were transported to Hereford County Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.
Official Statement
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
The spokesman added that the two injured individuals were assessed and treated before being taken to hospital, with no life-threatening injuries reported.
Road Closure and Investigation
The collision caused significant disruption on Perton Lane, with the road closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene and investigators examined the circumstances of the crash. Motorists were advised to seek alternative routes.
