The West Midlands pub and bar of the year has been officially named, and customers are eager to secure a table at the popular venue. The Bull's Head in Craswall, Hereford, has been crowned the top spot in the region according to the 2026 National Pub & Bar Awards.
A Traditional Drovers Inn with Modern Appeal
Described as a "traditional drovers inn," The Bull's Head is located near the Black Mountains, on the border of England and Wales. Its menu features the "best seasonal produce," with ingredients largely sourced from the pub's own regenerative farm in Longtown.
The sample a la carte menu includes starters such as Cider Cured Trout and Crispy Pig Cheek, while mains range from Smoked Saddleback Ham to Beef Shin and Bone Marrow Mash Pie. Prices for starters are between £14 and £16, with mains costing £26 to £29.
Opening Hours and Recognition
The restaurant at The Bull's Head serves dinner from Wednesday to Saturday, 6pm to 8:30pm, and lunch on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The venue is closed Sunday to Tuesday but opens until 11pm on other days. Visitors are advised to check directly for current menus and prices.
The pub has also earned a spot in the Michelin Guide and boasts a strong 4.4 out of 5 rating on Tripadvisor. A recent five-star reviewer wrote they would "kill to get a table" at the pub, praising the "absolutely stunning food and great service."
Customer Raves About Atmosphere and Food
Another reviewer in February commented: "You must try this place... Snowy and frosty outside, yet the inside was warm and welcoming. The menu, ambience, and service all deserve five stars. To have a restaurant like this in a town would be a real find, and the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere but still busy is telling."
A third review from late last year described the food as "faultless," adding: "It is just like stepping back in time, inside the pub is unspoilt with a hole in the wall bar, rough walls, stone flag floors and open fire. They serve their own meat from their own farm, where the animals graze on the surrounding mountains. You can't get better or more local than that."
More Than Just a Pub
The Bull's Head also features a bar and beer garden with views of the Black Mountains, as well as cabins where visitors can book to stay. Customers can even purchase meat from the pub's farm to take home.
