However, the revival trailer revealed one significant missing face: The Janitor, played by actor Neil Flynn, whose absence has sparked disappointment among devoted viewers.
Zach Braff Clarifies The Janitor's Status
Executive producer and original star Zach Braff, aged 50, has addressed the confusion surrounding Neil Flynn's non-inclusion in the initial episodes. In an interview with Esquire magazine earlier this year, Braff explained that while Flynn and the character's creator, Ken, are interested in participating, logistical constraints may delay his appearance.
"Well, the true answer is if we’re blessed to have a second season, absolutely," Braff stated. "And the real answer for season 1 is we’re not fully sure yet. Episodes 8 and 9 of the nine-episode order are still being written. They both are interested in doing it."
Season 10 Premiere and Story Details
The excitement for the Scrubs revival peaked this week as the first two episodes debuted simultaneously in the United Kingdom and the United States. Fans were thrilled to see J.D., Elliot, Turk, and Carla return to Sacred Heart Hospital, seamlessly resuming their madcap adventures as if no time had passed.

Braff emphasized that the production team is carefully considering how to incorporate The Janitor in a meaningful way. "But do we have the bandwidth in the first nine to get to it all and service a story that would be worthy of Ken and Neil? That might come true," he added. "At this point, I can’t tell you the answer, but most definitely, if we are lucky enough to get a season 2, that’s something we want to do."
