Former Police Detective Steve Garner has released his second crime novel, Butchered, under the pen name Luna Dawg. The book draws on his three decades of frontline experience investigating major crimes with the West Midlands Police.
Real-Life Inspiration for Fictional Crime
After retiring from the force, Garner was motivated to share genuine, gritty insights into serious crime investigations from the turn of the millennium. Butchered is the second book in the DCI Rick Shorthouse series, following his successful debut, Rebound.
Inside the Major Investigation Team
The novel offers a realistic plunge into the fast-paced dynamics of a Major Investigation Team, exploring the hunt for justice as well as the professional and personal challenges detectives face. A third book is already scheduled for release around September, making the series a must-read for local thriller fans.
“I try to bring my extensive professional knowledge to my novels, drawing inspiration from real cases that myself and my colleagues worked on throughout my career,” Garner said.
Where to Buy
The DCI Rick Shorthouse series is available online on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats. Tamworth residents can purchase copies at The Book Nook café, supporting a local independent business while saving on postage and packaging fees.
