Civic Pride Rossendale Launches Big Easter Litter Pick in Waterfoot
Civic Pride Rossendale, a dedicated volunteer group, is mobilizing the community for a special cleanup event this Easter. The organization, composed of volunteers of all ages, regularly collects dozens of bags of litter each week from areas including Rawtenstall, Waterfoot, and Crawshawbooth. Their efforts are crucial in keeping roadsides, streets, and parks clear, significantly enhancing the environment for residents, workers, and visitors alike.
Targeting Problem Areas with Community Support
Despite ongoing efforts, some locations still require a larger community push to achieve cleanliness. Chris Blomerley, the health and safety and litter picking officer for Civic Pride Rossendale, has identified a specific area in need of attention. To address this, he has organized the Big Easter Litter Pick scheduled for Saturday, April 4.
The event will focus on the woodland just below the Edgeside Estate, as well as the surrounding streets and park in Waterfoot. This initiative aims to tackle accumulated rubbish and promote a cleaner, more attractive local environment.
Incentives and Logistics for Volunteers
To encourage family participation, Tesco has generously donated Easter eggs to Civic Pride Rossendale. These will be given to any children who help fill litter bags during the event, making it a fun and rewarding activity for younger volunteers.
The meeting point for the litter pick is at the junction of Wales Road and Taylor Avenue. The event will run from 10am to 12pm, and all necessary litter-picking equipment will be provided on-site. Organizers warmly welcome anyone available to help, emphasizing that no prior experience is needed.
Volunteers are advised to wear weather-appropriate clothing, including sturdy boots and gloves, to ensure safety and comfort during the cleanup. This event highlights the power of community action in maintaining and improving public spaces across Bacup, Rawtenstall, and Haslingden.
