Walsall Fly-Tippers Fined £400 Each After Being Caught on Council CCTV
Two fly-tippers have been fined after they were caught on camera illegally disposing of rubbish in Walsall. The unnamed individuals both used Woodwards Road in the Pleck area as a dumping ground for household waste.
Details of the Incidents
In the first incident, an offender was hit with a £400 fixed penalty notice on January 29, 2026. This fine was paid 13 days later on February 11. The second incident was captured on Walsall Council-owned CCTV on January 7, 2026. After tracking down the perpetrator, another £400 fixed penalty was issued, which must be paid within 14 days.
Walsall Council has stated that failure to pay within the specified timeframe, following a reminder, may result in prosecution through the courts. This underscores the serious consequences of such environmental crimes.
Council's Strong Warning
Councillor Adam Hicken, Walsall's enforcement boss, emphasized the council's stance: "Fly-tipping is a criminal offence, and we will take action against those who think they can dump waste in our communities. CCTV plays an important role in helping us identify offenders and ensure they are held accountable. If you choose to fly-tip in Walsall, you risk a substantial fine or prosecution through the courts."
Investment in Enforcement
The local authority highlighted that cameras are "continued to be rolled out across the borough" as part of its investment into enforcement action. All income received from fines will be reinvested into enforcement activity and environmental services to help keep Walsall clean and safe.
