Llandrindod Repair Café Celebrates Great Big Green Week with Busy Session
Llandrindod Repair Café Marks Great Big Green Week

Llandrindod Repair Café marked Great Big Green Week at its monthly session, held from June 6 to 14. This annual week, launched in 2021 by The Climate Coalition, aims to be the UK’s largest celebration of community action, featuring local nature walks, repair cafés, and community clean-ups.

About the Repair Café

The Repair Café, a project of Llandrindod Transition, consists of experienced volunteer ‘fixers’ and a support team dedicated to reducing waste and pollution by repairing portable items that might otherwise end up in landfill. It meets in a relaxed atmosphere with refreshments at Celf O Gwmpas on Tremont Road on the second Saturday of each month between 2pm and 5pm. The café looks forward to its 12th anniversary in July. There is no charge for fixing, apart from the cost of any parts and materials needed, but donations are welcome to help cover expenses.

June’s Busy Session

June’s afternoon was busy with a variety of repairs, including a coffee maker, vacuum cleaners, sewing tasks, and sharpening garden tools. The event also featured a demonstration of Morsbags—simple-to-make bags created from scrap material as a substitute for throwaway plastic—and a stand by local electric car club Trydan Ni.
