Energy supplier OVO has launched a major nationwide initiative to help households tackle high bills, offering practical support that could save families up to £360 annually. The series of community events forms part of the wider Warm Welcome Week campaign, backed by OVO's £56 million Extra Support Package.
Free Support and Savings on Offer
At events across the country, OVO experts will provide free, personalised advice on reducing energy consumption. Crucially, eligible residents can also receive free energy-saving products, including electric blankets, energy-efficient light bulbs, and solar battery banks. The company states this combination of advice and hardware could lead to average savings of up to £360 per year for participating households.
A Vital Lifeline During the Coldest Months
Steven Donovan, Customer Vulnerability Lead at OVO, emphasised the initiative's importance. "Warm Welcome Week supports families during one of the most difficult times of year," he said. "It's more than just a warm space; it's about human connection and providing support people may not know exists." Donovan also reiterated OVO's call for a government-led social tariff to protect those struggling with sustained high energy prices.
David Barclay, Warm Welcome Campaign Director, highlighted the acute need in January. "It's the darkest, coldest time, with many facing the choice between heating and eating," Barclay stated. "OVO's generous support is vital, raising awareness and connecting communities to help those struggling with bills. We don't want anyone to feel cold or alone this winter."
