The Cairngorms National Park is predicted to bear the brunt, with a staggering 79cm of snow forecast. Major urban centres are also on alert, with Glasgow and Edinburgh likely to see over 25cm of snow by Thursday, January 29. Dundee could be hit by around 30cm.
The medium-range forecast maps show extensive blotches of white spreading across the country, covering most of England and Scotland. The only area expected to potentially escape the blanket is the south-west of England.

The wintry weather is scheduled to commence in Scotland from Monday, January 26, and persist through to Thursday, January 29. The Met Office, in its outlook for late January into February, indicates a heightened risk of cold conditions.
"Initially, slowly evolving weather patterns are most likely in the vicinity of the UK, with low pressure typically to the west or southwest and high pressure to the northeast," the forecast states. "This configuration brings an increased chance of cold conditions affecting parts of the UK, and the associated risk of wintry hazards at times."
