A vehicle was engulfed in flames on a road in Bridgnorth, leaving it completely destroyed, but fortunately no injuries were reported. The incident occurred late on Tuesday evening, prompting a response from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Fire Crews Respond to Blaze
Two fire engines from Bridgnorth fire station were dispatched to the scene on the A442 near the River Severn. Upon arrival, crews found the car well alight and used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, according to a spokesperson for the fire service.
Road Closed During Emergency Operations
The road was temporarily closed in both directions while firefighters worked to make the area safe. Traffic was diverted via nearby routes, causing minor delays for evening commuters. The closure was lifted shortly after the fire was extinguished.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire service confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the blaze, and no nearby properties or vehicles were damaged. “The car was well alight when we arrived, but crews acted quickly to prevent the fire from spreading,” said the spokesperson.
