Storm Dave Set to Batter UK with Severe Weather Over Easter Weekend

The Met Office has issued a series of weather warnings as Storm Dave approaches the UK, threatening to disrupt Easter Bank Holiday travel across 62 areas. Forecasters predict strong winds, heavy rain, and snowfall that could lead to significant travel delays and potential damage.

Multiple Warnings Issued for Saturday and Sunday

Four separate weather warnings have been activated, covering Saturday, April 4, and extending into Easter Sunday. Deputy chief forecaster Tom Crabtree warned that Storm Dave will form and rapidly deepen on Saturday as it moves in from the west, bringing escalating winds throughout the afternoon.

"By Saturday afternoon winds will strengthen significantly, with gusts of 60 to 70mph expected at times across parts of Scotland," Crabtree stated. "Exposed coastal locations in Scotland could see gusts reaching 80 to 90mph, while gusts of 50 to 60mph are likely more widely in northern Britain."

Snowfall and Blizzard Conditions Forecast

In addition to the high winds, Storm Dave is expected to deliver heavy snowfall over the hills in northern Scotland, with accumulations potentially reaching 10 to 20cm. This combination of snow and strong winds may create dangerous blizzard conditions in affected regions.

Elsewhere across the UK, the storm system will bring heavy spells of rain as it moves eastward. Crabtree advised residents to prepare their properties for the strong winds and stay updated with the latest forecasts, as weather warnings are likely to be adjusted as the storm develops.
