Wolverhampton factory fire: Crews remain 24 hours later as cause probed
Wolverhampton factory fire crews remain 24 hours on

Fire crews are still at the scene of a significant factory fire in Wolverhampton more than 24 hours after the blaze first took hold.

Major Emergency Response on Sunbeam Street

The fire service was called to Sunbeam Street in Wolverhampton around 7.30am on Wednesday, January 14. At the peak of the incident, a substantial emergency response saw 21 fire engines dispatched to tackle the flames.

The blaze engulfed a factory building, with firefighters working throughout the night to bring it under control. A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service confirmed their crews have been working relentlessly to scale down the large-scale incident.

Ongoing Operations and Investigation

As of Thursday, January 15, fire service personnel remain on site. The spokesperson stated: "Currently there are 5 fire engines and 2 hydraulic platforms in attendance."

They added that crews will continue collaborating with partner agencies and local businesses to conclude the operation. A formal investigation into the origin and cause of the fire will commence once it is deemed safe to do so.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, which is a significant relief given the scale of the incident.

Continued Traffic Disruption

The fire has caused considerable disruption to local travel. Upper Villiers Street remains closed from its junction with Goldthorn Hill to the junction with Marston Road.

Authorities are urging motorists and the public to continue avoiding the area and to plan alternative routes for their journeys. The fire service has assured that their presence will be maintained throughout the day as they finalise operations.
