The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed which disabilities and medical conditions may be eligible to claim weekly payments of up to £114. The DWP often updates its list of eligible conditions for people to receive Personal Independence Payments (PIP). This government benefit is designed to help with extra living or mobility costs if you have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.
Full list of infectious conditions which are eligible
- COVID-19
- HIV/AIDS
- Viral diseases excluding hepatitis and poliomyelitis
- Bacterial diseases
- Tuberculosis
- Infectious diseases
- Malaria
- Protozoal diseases
However, just having one of these infectious conditions does not automatically qualify you for the payment. Instead, an applicant must meet the DWP's criteria which includes them having encountered significant difficulties with daily living activities, mobility, or both. This must be over the course of a minimum of three months and these challenges must be expected to persist for at least another nine months.
