Brothers Sam and Adam Wymer, co-founders of the award-winning Yorkshire healthcare company The Body Doctor, crossed the finish line of the London Marathon, raising more than £12,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
The brothers undertook the challenge in honour of their father, Maurice Wymer, who sadly passed away just four weeks after being diagnosed with the disease. Describing their father as their 'hero, inspiration and best mate,' the brothers set themselves the ambitious goal of raising £10,000 or more to help the charity give families more time, more hope and a fighting chance against one of the hardest cancers to detect early.
The brothers channelled their grief into purpose, determined to raise both awareness and vital funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK, supporting earlier diagnosis and better treatment for patients in the future. In a heartfelt tribute to their father’s Kiwi roots, the brothers carried a New Zealand flag across the finish line.
Sam, The Body Doctor’s sales and marketing director, said: “Anything is possible if you set your mind to it, that’s what my dad always said and running the London Marathon this year felt like living proof of that.”
“Six months ago, I couldn’t run five kilometres without stopping,” he added. “Crossing the finish line with Adam, having raised more than £12,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, is something I’m incredibly proud of but, more importantly, it’s something I hope would have made my dad proud.”
“The day itself was everything people say it would be, tough, emotional and completely worth it. Every mile meant something, and knowing we’ve helped raise awareness and funds for such an important cause made it all the more powerful. This was for my dad and for every family affected by pancreatic cancer. To everyone who supported us along the way, thank you. You made it possible,” he concluded.
The Body Doctor is a family-run business founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Sue Grant MBE and her sons, Sam and Adam Wymer.
