Capri-Sun Multipacks Recalled Over Misleading Sugar Labels in UK
Capri-Sun Recall: Multipacks Pulled Over Sugar Label Error

Supermarkets are removing certain batches of Capri-Sun Orange 10-packs from shelves due to a labeling error that could pose a health risk to consumers with diabetes.

Recall Details and Affected Products

Capri Sun UK has issued a recall for specific batches of Capri-Sun Orange 10x200ml multipacks sold in Northern Ireland. The outer packaging correctly identifies the product as regular Capri-Sun Orange, but the individual pouches inside are incorrectly labeled as Capri-Sun Orange Zero, despite containing sugar. This mislabeling could mislead consumers who rely on sugar content information, such as those with type 2 diabetes.

The affected batches carry batch codes L104, L105, and L106, with a best before date of April 1, 2027. No other Capri-Sun products or batches are impacted by this recall.

Consumer Warning and Refund Process

In a consumer notice published by the Food Standards Agency, Capri Sun UK’s managing director Matthew Done stated: "If you have purchased a 10pk Capri-Sun Orange with one of the above batch numbers and a best before date of April 2027, do not consume the product if you are a consumer who is dependent on sugar content (including those with Type 2 diabetes). If you’ve bought an affected product, please return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund. No receipt is required."

Capri-Sun added: "Due to a packaging error, some Capri-Sun Orange multipacks contain pouches incorrectly labelled as Capri-Sun Orange Zero. The pouches contain regular Capri-Sun Orange, as correctly stated on the outer packaging. The incorrect pouch labelling may mislead consumers who need to monitor their sugar intake, including individuals with diabetes."

Impact and Next Steps

The recall affects only the specified batches sold in Northern Ireland. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to return it to the point of sale for a full refund, with no receipt necessary. The Food Standards Agency advises anyone with concerns about sugar intake, particularly those with diabetes, to avoid consuming the product and to check their multipacks for the batch codes and best before date.
