DWP to Pay PIP Claimants £28 Extra Monthly in May 2026
DWP Paying PIP Claimants £28 Extra Monthly in May

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to provide an additional £28 per month to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claimants starting in May 2026. This increase follows the annual inflation-linked uplift of benefits, which has been confirmed for the new financial year.

New Payment Amounts

PIP claimants will see their weekly payments rise to a maximum of £194.60, up from £187.45 in the previous year. This equates to an extra £364 annually, or £28 more each month. The exact amount each claimant receives depends on their individual circumstances, as PIP is divided into two components: daily living and mobility, each with standard and enhanced rates.

How Much Will You Get?

The increase applies to both components of PIP. For example, the enhanced daily living rate will increase accordingly, while the standard mobility rate will also see a boost. Claimants are advised to check their award letters for specific amounts.

Future of PIP Under Review

The government is currently conducting a review of PIP to assess potential cuts and reforms. Recommendations are expected to be presented to the government in autumn 2026, which could affect the long-term future of the benefit. More details are anticipated later this year.

This increase is part of the broader annual benefits uprating, which aligns payments with inflation to help claimants manage rising living costs.
