Birmingham City Centre Tim Hortons Fails Hygiene Inspection with Cockroaches and Mice
A Tim Hortons coffee shop located on New Street in Birmingham city centre has received a dismal hygiene rating of just one out of five following an official inspection conducted on December 16. The inspection revealed severe pest infestations, including dead cockroaches and mouse droppings scattered across multiple areas of the establishment.
Shocking Findings During the Inspection
Inspectors discovered dead cockroaches on the basement floor, with one cockroach found carrying an egg case capable of holding up to 40 eggs. Additional cockroaches were identified in monitoring traps placed throughout the building. The presence of mouse droppings was also noted on the floor, in the coffee shelf area, and underneath the staircase near the upper-dining section.
Staff had reportedly found a cockroach in the ice machine earlier, leading to a fogging treatment being administered just hours before the official inspection took place. Despite this last-minute effort, the hygiene report described cleaning and pest activity as poor, highlighting significant lapses in maintenance and sanitation protocols.
