DWP Warns Seven Benefit Recipients: Claim £150 Energy Discount by Friday
DWP: Claim £150 Energy Discount by Friday on Seven Benefits

Urgent Deadline: DWP Warm Home Discount Scheme Ends Next Friday

People receiving seven specific Department for Work and Pensions benefits are being urged to take immediate action to secure a £150 energy bill discount, as the DWP Warm Home Discount scheme concludes in just one week. The final deadline is next Friday, February 28, 2026, marking the last opportunity for eligible individuals to claim this financial support.

Eligibility Criteria for the £150 Energy Discount

To qualify for the Warm Home Discount, individuals must have been claiming one of the following benefits on the qualifying date of August 24:

  • Guaranteed credit element of Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Universal Credit
  • Savings Credit part of Pension Credit

While most eligible recipients should have received the discount automatically, some cases may have been overlooked, necessitating a manual claim to ensure no one misses out on this crucial assistance.

How to Claim the Warm Home Discount

If you are eligible for the scheme, your letter will confirm that no further action is required. Your electricity supplier will automatically apply the £150 discount to your bill by March 31, 2026. However, if your letter indicates that more information is needed, you must call the helpline by February 28, 2026, to confirm your details.

Important: If you believe you are eligible but did not receive a letter by early January 2026, you must contact the Warm Home Discount Scheme directly before the February 28 deadline. Residents in Scotland who applied through their energy supplier will not receive a letter from the scheme and should instead contact their supplier.
