Residents in Walsall have been given clear guidance on how their waste and recycling collections will be affected over the upcoming festive period. The local authority has confirmed that services will be disrupted on just three specific days.
Revised Collection Dates for Key Holidays
Walsall Council has stated that only collections falling on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day will see changes. All other scheduled collections throughout the holiday season will proceed as normal.
For households whose usual collection is on Thursday, December 25 (Christmas Day), bins will instead be emptied on Saturday, December 20. The regular Thursday schedule will recommence on January 8. On this rescheduled date, crews will collect a maximum of two additional bags of general waste.
Boxing Day and New Year Arrangements
If your collection is normally on Friday, December 26 (Boxing Day), your new collection day will be Saturday, December 27. In this instance, a maximum of one extra bag of waste will be taken. The standard Friday service returns on January 9.
Collections due on Thursday, January 1 (New Year's Day) are moved to Saturday, January 3. Again, a maximum of one additional bag will be collected. The normal Thursday pattern resumes on January 15.
Disposing of Extra Festive Waste
The council has emphasised that no extra bagged waste will be collected on any other day outside of the three specified rescheduled dates. Residents with additional rubbish can take it for free to either of the borough's household waste recycling centres in Aldridge or Bloxwich.
These recycling centres will remain open throughout the holidays, except for closure on the three bank holidays: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
By providing this advance notice, Walsall Council aims to help residents plan their festive waste disposal efficiently and avoid any confusion or missed collections during the busy holiday period.
