Channel Rotary's Annual Charity Cycle Ride Returns to Romney Marsh
The Channel Rotary's beloved charity cycle ride on Romney Marsh is celebrating over a decade of community engagement and fundraising success. This year, the event will once again commence and conclude at the scenic Haguelands Farm in Burmarsh, offering participants a picturesque and rewarding experience.
Event Details and Route Options
Scheduled for Sunday, July 5, the Channel Challenge invites cyclists of all levels to participate in circular, flat routes tailored to various abilities. Riders can opt for a 30-mile journey, a more demanding 50-mile circuit, or tackle the substantial 80-mile challenge that truly tests endurance. Whether joining as an individual, team, or family unit, participants have the flexibility to time their ride for a competitive edge or enjoy a leisurely pace at their own comfort.
Family-Friendly Activities and Attractions
For the second consecutive year, a new family Treasure Hunt has been introduced, featuring a gentle 10-mile route. This activity encourages families to solve tricky clues while discovering the rich history of Romney Marsh, including tales of smugglers and local wildlife. Starting and finishing at Haguelands Farm provides added entertainment, with access to the Marsh Maze and Fun Yard—a summer playground complete with castles and games. All participants will receive a certificate upon completion, commemorating their achievement.
On-Site Amenities and Charitable Impact
Food and drink will be available on site at Haguelands Farm, ensuring a convenient and enjoyable day out for the whole family. This year's event aims to support a range of local charities, with a focus on the expanding work of the Rainbow Centre, which assists homeless individuals in reintegrating into normal life. The primary goal is to foster a fun and engaging atmosphere while raising vital funds for these worthy causes.
