Accrington Stanley kicked off the new football season by inviting local sponsors and supporters to the club's training ground for a special event. The afternoon saw participants, including representatives from local businesses and long-term partners, join the players on the pitch to test their skills in a penalty shootout.
Penalty Shootout Thrills
Guests stepped up to face goalkeeper James Rogerson from 12 yards, with the squad and coaching staff watching on. The event featured impressive saves, enthusiastic celebrations, and traditional Lancashire pies served inside the Stanley Sports Hub. Attendees also took part in television-style interviews, sharing what supporting their local team means to them.
Adrian from the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust won a signed football during the event. The ball will be auctioned off to raise funds for the club.
Sponsors Share Their Pride
Accrington Stanley commercial manager Jodie Hargreaves said: "It was fantastic to bring all of our sponsors together in one place and give them the opportunity to spend time with the players and coaching staff ahead of the new season. Days like this are a great way to thank our existing partners for their continued support while also welcoming new sponsors into the Stanley family."
She added: "There was a brilliant atmosphere throughout, plenty of laughs and some good penalties! We really appreciate the backing of all our sponsors and we're looking forward to building on those relationships throughout the season."
Stephen Taylor from Taylor's Scaffolding commented: "It is a privilege to put something back into the community. Being a local family, it's an honour to be part of something as big and amazing as this."
