Exclusive details of Aston Villa's playing kits for the 2026/27 season have reportedly been leaked online, revealing a significant design departure for the club's famous home shirt.
A Dramatic Shift for the Home Kit
According to the football kit publication Footy Headlines, the new Aston Villa home shirt will make a "bold change from tradition". The iconic design, manufactured by adidas, is said to drop the traditional sky-blue sleeves that have been a hallmark for decades. Instead, the shirt will be entirely claret.
This move is rare in Villa's modern history. Since the year 2000, only the 2001 and 2018 home shirts have been released without blue sleeves. The 2018 design from LUKE 1977 is still highly regarded by many supporters as one of the club's best recent kits.
Premium Look for the Away and Third Kits
The leaks also provide insight into the away and third strips for the upcoming campaign. Villa's away kit for the 2026/27 season is expected to return to a black and gold colour scheme, continuing the club's preference for dark away shirts.
This design is described as having a more premium aesthetic than the black and yellow strip worn in the 2022/23 season, with the new version featuring a richer gold detailing rather than a bright yellow. The jersey is also anticipated to feature the classic adidas Trefoil logo, currently seen on Villa's third kit.
Sky Blue Returns for Third Strip
Completing the set, the third kit will reportedly see the return of sky blue as the primary colour, accented with claret and gold for graphics and logos. Villa last wore a sky-blue kit in the 2022/23 season when Castore was the manufacturer.
It is claimed that this third strip will be released separately in August. The 2026/27 collection will mark the third season of Villa's partnership with adidas, which began last season when the club competed in the Champions League.
