Harvey Elliott's Aston Villa Struggle Sparks Liverpool U-Turn Speculation
Elliott's Villa Struggle Sparks Liverpool U-Turn Speculation

Harvey Elliott will have no shortage of offers this summer despite his nightmare season at Aston Villa. The on-loan Liverpool midfielder has been stuck in limbo at Villa Park in what has been a waste of a season for the talented attacker.

Limited Game Time and Contract Clause

Clubs from Europe and England are keen on the Liverpool attacker who has played just nine games this season despite limited minutes. If he played one more time in the Premier League, Villa would trigger an obligation to buy Elliott for £35 million, which has left him consistently in limbo. Liverpool would not budge on their clause, and with Villa taking the option not to play him, Elliott has been caught in the middle.

Interest Despite Difficult Season

But despite a season that has been spent in the shadows, the BBC claims he still has plenty of interest heading into the summer. And there could even be a Liverpool U-turn if Arne Slot leaves the club, although it is likely he will remain in charge despite the fans urging the club to appoint Xabi Alonso to replace him.

Elliott, who was player of the tournament as England under-21s won Euro 2025 last summer, is still expected to report for Liverpool pre-season training despite the uncertainty surrounding his future. The 23-year-old has handled the situation remarkably well despite the standoff between Liverpool and Villa, and is said to be one of the most popular members of the squad.

World Cup Hopes Dashed

But his time on the sidelines means he is likely to miss out on a World Cup place that he envisioned a season at Villa would have helped with those ambitions. Elliott did feature on the bench in the 4-0 rout of Nottingham Forest last week, but did not come on as the club booked their place in the final against Freiburg.

Emery's Stance Clear

Back in January, Emery made his stance clear on Elliott when he said: "We decided two months ago we are not convinced to sign him, spending the money we need. It is not good for him or good for us."
