Birmingham City winger Ibrahim Osman will not feature in Saturday's home game against Bristol City, manager Chris Davies has confirmed. The 21-year-old Ghanaian was forced off during Wednesday's victory over Preston North End after sustaining a clash of heads, and he has been unable to train since due to concussion protocols.
Osman's absence confirmed
Speaking ahead of the match, Davies said: "He got a knock to his head so he's unavailable for tomorrow. There's nothing you can do about that unfortunately. Hopefully it's just this one game." The club hopes Osman will be cleared to return to training early next week, but he must pass the necessary tests to be available for the final day fixture against Portsmouth.
Replacement and team form
Demarai Gray is expected to replace Osman on the left wing. Gray was part of the last Blues squad to secure a top-10 finish in the Championship, under Gary Rowett in 2015/16, before departing for Leicester City in January. Birmingham City currently sit in a tightly contested mid-table, with four points from their remaining two games potentially securing their best points tally since 2011/12.
Davies added: "It should motivate the players. I haven't thought much about targets, just winning the next game, but hitting the 60-point mark for the first time in a decade is a tangible achievement. We could finish anywhere between 10th and 17th, so we must keep going until the end."
