James Morrison is determined for Albion to sign off in style. The head coach, in place until the end of the season, has all but sealed the Baggies' Championship status with a remarkable run of nine matches unbeaten.
Mathematical Safety and EFL Hearing
Albion would be mathematically safe, but there has still been no news from an independent commission hearing related to an EFL charge of financial breach. Timeframes remain unclear, but any possible punishment is expected to be minor.
Morrison's Motivation
Morrison wants the football to continue to do the talking and has clashes against automatic promotion-chasing Ipswich, on Saturday lunchtime, and a final-day trip to relegated basement boys Sheffield Wednesday to come.
"It's up to the players to manage that and keep that good feeling that they've had," Morrison said. "There's no better feeling in football than when you're winning - and you want to continue that. That's what we work hard for and when you win you get the rewards, which is good."
Focus on Football
Morrison added of the unknown of the hearing: "We'll cross the bridge when it happens, everyone is in the same boat and just waiting. But we'll continue to do the football side, keep doing our jobs and see what happens. On our footballing side we erased it pretty quickly and have been concentrating on winning matches and it has cancelled out the noise. It filters to the players. We let the football do the talking and will continue to."
Ipswich Challenge
Ipswich have everything on the line in the direct scrap with three rivals for the second automatic promotion spot. Morrison is not concerned of feet coming off the gas from his hosts. He said: "I think it's in the consistency of what we've been doing. That brings determination - every season, every game. I believe doing the right things every day will promote that intensity. All the things we train with every day we emulate on the pitch."
