Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Jordan James has insisted the squad possesses sufficient talent to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season, calling for belief amid a challenging campaign.
James backs Wolves squad quality
Speaking to the club's official media channels, James said: "We've got enough talent in this squad to stay up. We've shown that in games, we've just got to be more consistent." The 20-year-old, who joined Wolves from Birmingham City in the summer, has made 12 Premier League appearances this term.
Wolves currently sit 17th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone, after a run of mixed results. The team has struggled for form, winning only four of their opening 18 league matches.
Confidence key to survival push
James acknowledged that confidence has been an issue but stressed the importance of sticking together. "When you're down there, it's easy to let your head drop, but we can't do that. We've got to keep believing in each other and in the manager's plan," he added.
The midfielder pointed to recent performances against top sides as evidence of the team's potential. "We've competed with some of the best teams in the league, so we know we can do it. It's about doing it week in, week out," James said.
Manager's role in team morale
Head coach Gary O'Neil has faced pressure in recent weeks, with some fans calling for change. However, James backed the manager's methods. "The gaffer has been brilliant with us. He keeps us focused and doesn't let us get too down. We all trust him," the midfielder said.
Wolves face a crucial run of fixtures after the festive period, including matches against fellow relegation battlers. James believes the squad's depth will be vital. "We've got a strong group here. Everyone is fighting for each other, and that's what we need," he concluded.
