Louis Mander, a 32-year-old athlete from Saxilby in Lincolnshire, has returned home triumphant after securing four national medals across two different sports during an intense 10-day tour. His haul includes gold, silver, and bronze medals from high-level tennis and equestrian competitions held across the country.
National Special Olympics Games in Wrexham
Mander began his journey in Wrexham at the National Special Olympics Games, competing in the top division for tennis. He secured a bronze medal in the singles and a silver in the doubles, demonstrating his skill on the court.
Immediately after his tennis successes, he travelled to The Wirral to take part in the equestrian events. Representing the East Midlands as the region's only qualified rider, he won gold in equitation riding, gold in horse trials, and silver in dressage, adding three more medals to his collection.
Wimbledon Tournament and World Games Shortlist
Following a brief rest day, Mander travelled to the iconic All England Club in Wimbledon to take part in a national learning disability tennis tournament. He finished fourth overall after competing against the top eight players from across the country over two days of intense competition.
His impressive performances across both sports mean he will now be shortlisted for the World Games in Chile. This recognition highlights his dedication and ability in both disciplines.
