Saint Paul's Catholic High School in Wythenshawe has achieved a remarkable triple victory in the Manchester Cup, with their Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9 girls' football teams all being crowned champions. The Year 10 team also reached the final, narrowly missing out on the title.
Year 7 Dominance
The Year 7 team delivered an outstanding performance in their final against St Matthew's, securing a commanding 4–0 victory. Mayla was in superb form, scoring a brilliant hat-trick, while Serena added a fantastic fourth goal to cap off a confident and composed team display.
Year 9 Success
The Year 9 team impressed in their final against Chorlton High with a well-earned 2–0 win. Goals from Cienna and Elise secured the victory, following a determined performance built on discipline, teamwork, and resilience.
Year 8 Triumph
The Year 8 team added to the celebrations with an excellent 3–0 triumph over Wright Robinson College. Mayla opened the scoring, while Cienna delivered an outstanding individual performance with two goals and an assist, showcasing both skill and teamwork at the highest level.
Year 10 Runners-Up
The Year 10 team also reached the final, demonstrating their quality and determination throughout the competition. Despite taking the lead and holding it for much of the game, they were narrowly defeated 3–1 by Wright Robinson College in the closing stages. Their effort and commitment remain a huge credit to the team.
Praise from Staff
The school is incredibly proud of all their players for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment throughout the season. Teacher Mr Fowler said: "We couldn't be prouder of our girls' teams. Their commitment, enthusiasm and unity have been clear throughout the season, and reaching these finals is a testament to their hard work. The players support one another, train with purpose and represent Saint Paul's with real pride."
Mr Mawn added: "This is an outstanding achievement for our school — four teams reaching four finals is something truly special. Our players have shown commitment in training, courage in competition and a fantastic sense of school pride. We are incredibly proud of how far girls' football has come at Saint Paul's, and this success reflects that progress."
Mr Whiteside said: "Our girls have demonstrated resilience, leadership and exceptional teamwork, fully embodying the values of Saint Paul's. They are outstanding role models, and we could not be prouder of their achievements."
