Aston Villa have confirmed that the upcoming Europa League final will not be screened at Villa Park, as construction work on the North Stand redevelopment is set to begin immediately after the final home match of the season against Liverpool on Friday, May 15.
Redevelopment timeline forces decision
The club announced an accelerated timeline for the major redevelopment project, which means they cannot delay the process. The North Stand will be closed for the entire 2026/27 season, but this will allow for a significantly enhanced facility to be delivered sooner than originally planned, increasing the stadium's capacity to over 50,000.
As part of the expansion, an additional 5,500 new seats will be added to Villa Park, alongside other seating optimisation works scheduled for this summer.
Alternative screening arrangements
Due to the construction, Villa's only official match screening event will take place at the Sports Illustrated Warehouse. For supporters unable to travel to Istanbul for the final, the club have organised a Watch Party at this venue.
Villa will face Bundesliga side Freiburg at the Tupras Stadium in Istanbul after defeating Nottingham Forest 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals. Unai Emery's side thrashed Forest 4-0 at Villa Park in the second leg, overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg. Freiburg, meanwhile, beat Braga 4-3 on aggregate, winning 3-1 at home after Braga were reduced to 10 men early in the second leg.
