West Bromwich Albion have slipped to 20th in the Championship standings after being docked two points for breaching EFL financial rules. The penalty leaves the Baggies level on points with Charlton Athletic in 21st place, though they hold a superior goal difference of four.
With only two matches remaining, West Brom's second-tier survival is no longer mathematically guaranteed. They now sit just six points above the relegation zone. A single point from their remaining games would secure their Championship status. Alternatively, defeats for Charlton in both their remaining matches, or Oxford United failing to win each of theirs, would also ensure safety.
Remaining Fixtures
West Brom face Ipswich Town at home on Saturday lunchtime, while Charlton host Hull City in south London at the same time. Oxford United, also at home, take on already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday at 3pm.
On the final day, Albion travel to Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton head to Swansea City, and Oxford visit Millwall. All Championship fixtures on the last day will kick off at 12:30pm.
Leicester City Unaffected
Leicester City remain unaffected by West Brom's deduction, still sitting seven points behind them with just six points left to play for, following their own points penalty earlier in the campaign.
Appeal Rights
West Brom retain the right to appeal within two weeks of receiving the full written verdict, though no immediate challenge is forthcoming. The club stated: "For now, we will settle this on the pitch."
