Golf Pro Raises £2,000 with 108-Hole Marathon

A golf professional from Skegness has raised nearly £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after completing a gruelling 108-hole marathon in a single day. Adrian Goodyear, assistant professional at Seacroft Golf Club, started his challenge at 4am and finished at 8pm, walking roughly 26 miles across the course in scorching summer heat.

How the Challenge Unfolded

Goodyear played six full rounds of golf on one of the hottest days of the year, covering 108 holes. The physically demanding feat was undertaken to generate vital funds for the cancer charity, which provides physical, financial, and emotional support to people diagnosed with cancer. Members of the local club rallied behind the effort, making generous donations throughout the day.

“Taking on 108 holes in one day was always going to be a tough challenge, especially on one of the hottest days of the year, but every step was worth it knowing I was raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support,” Goodyear said.

Community and Club Support

Club managers praised the incredible stamina shown by the assistant during the fundraiser. Susan Turner, General Manager at Seacroft Golf Club, said: “Completing six rounds of golf in a single day is a remarkable achievement, particularly in such hot conditions, and he never lost sight of why he was doing it.” She added: “The support from members and visitors throughout the day was fantastic, and we’re delighted he’s raised such a brilliant amount for Macmillan Cancer Support. We can’t wait to see what challenge he takes on next.”

Fundraising Total and Future Plans

Goodyear expressed delight at raising nearly £2,000, noting that Macmillan is a charity that means a great deal to many at Seacroft. “It definitely won’t be the last fundraising challenge I take on,” he said. The sports team has kept the fundraising page open so that local residents can continue to make donations. To support Adrian's campaign, visit longestdaygolf.macmillan.org.uk/Team/adriangoodyear.
