The Kidney Wales CDF 10K will see its biggest-ever field on Sunday, September 6, with over 10,000 participants signed up for the 40th anniversary event. Organisers expect this to be the largest edition since the race was founded in 1986, cementing its status as one of the UK's most popular 10K races.
Record Participation and Growth
Run 4 Wales took over event delivery in 2023, and since then the race has experienced remarkable growth while increasing its community and social impact, with Kidney Wales remaining the lead charity. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of pounds have been raised for Kidney Wales, including almost £200,000 in the last five years alone.
Around 190,000 people have taken part in the race since its inception, and 2026 is expected to see the largest-ever number of finishers. Among the participants this year are 192 individuals who will also be celebrating their 40th birthday alongside the event.
1980s-Themed Celebrations
To mark the milestone, this year's CDF 10K will look back to the 1980s, with everyone encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Runners can expect 1980s music at the start and along the live course entertainment, and they will receive a retro finisher's medal and t-shirt at the finish line.
Alongside Kidney Wales, the event's partners – High5, Brecon Carreg, Kilted Dragon, Transport for Wales, Scimitar Sports, and Waterton Motor Group – will join in the celebrations on race day.
