Former England footballer Karen Carney has been installed as the new favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing 2025, overtaking social media star George Clarke just one day before the live final.
Betting Markets Shift After Semi-Final Triumph
According to the online bookmaker Betway, Carney is now the 1/2 favourite to claim the coveted Glitterball Trophy. This dramatic shift in the odds comes after she and her professional partner, Carlos Gu, delivered a stunning semi-final performance last Saturday.
The pair topped the leaderboard with a near-perfect score of 78 out of 80, dazzling the judges and convincing the public of her championship credentials. Her momentum has seen her leapfrog long-time series frontrunner George Clarke, who now sits at 13/8.
The Final Three Couples Prepare for Showdown
The grand final, which airs on Saturday, 20 December from 7pm on BBC One, will see Carney compete against two other celebrities. Clarke, alongside professional partner Alexis Warr, and actress Amber Davies, who is priced at 40/1, complete the line-up.
Davies secured her place in the final after surviving the dance-off for the second week in a row last weekend, setting the stage for a tense and glittering conclusion to the series.
Bookmaker Predicts a Flurry of Perfect Scores
A spokesperson for Betway commented on the exciting finale, stating: “With just three couples remaining and everything to jive for in the live final, we’re expecting a flurry of 10s from the judges as the celebrities dance for the Glitterball.”
They added: “Karen has had a great journey, which the public love, and she’s peaked at exactly the right time, which has propelled her into favouritism heading into the weekend. However, George has been the one to beat for much of the series - and the question now is whether he can reclaim top spot.”
With the judges' scores combined with the all-important public vote, the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 champion will be crowned in tomorrow night's unmissable live broadcast.
