Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has confirmed that new signing Dael Fry and striker Jay Stansfield are both in line to play in Wednesday's pre-season friendly against Solihull Moors. The match, part of the Arthur Cup, kicks off at 6pm at Damson Park to avoid a clash with England's World Cup semi-final against Argentina at 8pm.
Fry and Stansfield Ready for Action
Fry, a central defender who joined Blues on a free transfer from Middlesbrough, missed the first week of pre-season due to contract negotiations. He trained fully during the team's week-long camp in Portugal, as did Stansfield, who was recovering from a foot injury sustained on the final day of last season at Portsmouth. Neither player featured in the 3-1 friendly win over Huddersfield Town at the Estadio de Nora.
Davies told BirminghamLive: "I'd like to see Dael. I think Dael definitely will (play) in the Solihull game. Jay I would predict would as well, but we've just got to be careful with that leg. I would hope both of them would be there. We're a little bit shy of numbers so that will help us."
Team News and Injury Updates
Davies is hopeful that full-back Ethan Laird will be able to train at some stage this week. The length of striker Marvin Ducksch's absence should become clearer after he flew home from Portugal for a scan on an injury. The match against Solihull Moors offers a valuable opportunity for players to gain minutes ahead of the new season.
